Why Your Support Matters to Us

For more than thirty years, thousands of individuals have found recovery and renewed hope in our programs, making it possible for them to become contributing members of our society and effective parents to their children. The mothers, fathers, and children who come to Ujima are in desperate need of help and change and leave our programs feeling empowered and ready to take responsibility for their own lives. The future is promising for the hundreds of families who come through Ujima’s doors each year.

A financial contribution to Ujima is 100% tax-deductible. Whether you are able to give $30 or $3,000, your donation is guaranteed to help our clients begin a fresh start. Every financial gift is an investment in our families.

The Cost of Treatment

There are seven drug and alcohol treatment programs that make up Ujima Recovery Family Services. The operating costs to run these programs are extensive (i.e. rent, utilities, repair, maintenance, staff costs, information technology, etc). Funding for our services is dependent upon government contracts, foundation grants, corporate gifts and individual donations.

Investing in alcohol and drug education prevention and treatment has shown to benefit the entire community. For every $1 spent on preventing drug addiction and alcoholism, $31 is saved in social costs, such as fewer hospitalizations, car crashes, and arrests. Similarly, it is estimated that $9 is gained by helping these individuals become contributing members of society through increased wages and taxes. Simply put, a donation to Ujima does not just help the client; it is a contribution to your community and our society.
